H.R. 3747 is the ” Accelerating Access to Dementia and Alzheimer’s Provider Training Act, also known as the AADAPT Act.” Congress.gov

It was sponsored by Rep. Troy Balderson (who is a Republican from Ohio) along with other bipartisan cosponsors.

The goal of H.R. 3747 is to help train primary care doctors in mostly low-economic or rural areas to be able to recognize and diagnose Alzheimer’s and other dementias, but also to help educate them on how to treat these diseases.

Currently, it has passed the U.S. House of Representatives as of July 2026 (hooray!)

I chose this bill in particular because I have spent the past 3 years working with the geriatric population and have seen first hand the difference between a provider who had education with people who had these dx and those who didn’t.

As a social worker, it is my responsibility to advocate for individuals regardless of where they come from to have access to decent medical care. This bill will allow that to happen in areas that otherwise would not receive this type of support.
